Order of Worship—John 13.12-20
Announcements and Welcome (Father’s Day)
Call to Worship–(Ps. 149:1-4) Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! 2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! 3 Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! 4 For the LORD takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the *humble with salvation.
Hymn No. 22 “We will Glorify”
Prayer of confession
O Father, indeed, you are the Great I am. May we live for your glory. But we confess that we are not always adorned with humility. But in faith we want to ask for you help.
In humility, let us be unified in mind, unified in love, unified in spirit, unified in purpose.
Let look not only to our own needs, but the needs of others. We want to have the mind of Christ. We want to adorn humility in our minds. Help us see the humility of our King in how he took on the garb of a slave…how he lowered himself to wash the disciples’ feet, even the one who betrayed him.
Therefore, let us work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in us, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Let us do all things without grumbling or disputing, that we may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom we shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life.
As we have confessed, let us come to Jesus. As we are about to respond in song when we sing, “Out of unrest and arrogant pride, Jesus I come, Jesus I come. Into they blessed will to abide…ever thy glorious face to behold, Jesus I come.” In Jesus’ name, amen.
Hymn No. 439 “Jesus I come”
(Zech. 13:1) “On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.
Hymn No. 224 “There is a Fountain”
Hymn “How Sweet and Awesome is the Place”
(Ps. 67:1) May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah 2 that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. 3 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon earth. Selah 5 Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! 6 The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. 7 God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!
