Prayer of Confession

When I am asked to lead the congregation in a prayer of confession, I take some of the content from the Scripture reading that takes place just before the prayer. I also include things from the sermon text and themes. And finally, I just observe things in my own life that I fail at that might apply individually or corporately. I also anticipate the assurance of pardon as well. This prayer of confession includes themes from Psalm 80 and the sermon theme of church membership.
